Gardens of Princess Pauline
A garden where Napoleon’s sister enjoyed spending time in winter.
Orientation table (toposcope) overlooking the Avenue Victoria district with a panorama of the Grasse Old Town.
Napoleon I's younger sister, Pauline Borghese, famous for her beauty, was a regular visitor to Grasse, staying with the Amic family in the Pontevès mansion.
She was particularly fond of this grove of holm oaks overlooking the ramparts of the old town, where you can still see the armchair carved out of the stone in which she liked to sit and contemplate the magnificent view of the coastline and the Mediterranean, and in fine weather, her native Corsica.
This garden, which today bears her name, was created in 1922 by the municipality of Grasse following the donation of the estate by Baroness Alice de Rothschild.
Comprising flowerbeds, groves and terraces planted with olive trees, it offers a remarkable view of the historic centre, the sea and the Estérel massif.
